I’ve been doing SEC football coverage for the past two Saturdays, which is great for me because I get paid to watch football and write about it in my air-conditioned apartment and watching my HDTV.

It overwhelms me:
- How great Alabama would be this year if they had a more than an average college QB.
- How ruthless LSU is in defense.
- How they should be building statues of Andre Woodson in Lexington by now, because he is magnificent.
- How being a Clausen is the kiss of death for every college team.
- How sick I am of this f*&^ing Feist song in the iPod commercial.
- How much of a secret Big 10 fan I am.
- How UNC football is coming painfully close to approaching Duke’s.
- How buying barbeque at the edge of Alabama A&M right before their homecoming is a really great idea.

The Big 10?!? Why in the name of heavenly glory would you want to be for such a poser conference?!?

And Alabama would still be average no matter who was QBing....unless it was the god among men Peyton Manning.

And I'm soooooooo thankful we no longer have a Clausen at UT.

Michael: I used to live in Big 10 country. Sure, most of their football isn't close to SEC caliber, but the fans are insane. And watching plucky Illinois win a big one was pretty damn cool.

Chris: Nice to meet you! Getting to do SEC football stuff here is great -- much better than doing hockey coverage at my old job in North Carolina. :P I'm obsessed with the UK, and if I could just find me a British husband to help me get residency, I'd pack my bags permanently. (I'm kidding, kinda sorta.) I hope to visit next year -- I've got a whole list of really random places I want to visit. Do you follow football (soccer)?
